“To know my Creator”
Austin Frantz, is an American artist, self taught since childhood,
I’ve always had a deep imagination, and my creations would become like a voice, saying there is much to learn about one’s own self and life through the very act of creation.
In my works, there are scars, cracks, and rough patches underneath, all of which speak of the challenging ways of life and the marks we receive and carry, but then color, light and order make their way, and the image, the story, the symbol is then shown. What will it say and reveal? I believe the meaning of my work evolves over time, as I age the better I will understand the image, the more I hear of others perspectives the more I can gather to find its message. I would like my work to be like a collaboration with others to understand further, I would like to give others just a small glimpse or a key to understand a bit more of what the image is whispering and maybe they too will also give back an understanding, a sharing.
It’s hard for me to say where my inspiration comes from, but maybe just life itself, and all the things I have carried with me as I move along in life, memories, studies, conversations, senses, visions, all of which become my tools to express what my soul receives.
All the years of my experiments in creation there always seems to reappear a glimpse of light in the dark. I know that is a message that has always been with me, And would say that is what I hope is received by those who see these images, like a calling, to be even just a small light in this world.
But regardless I believe a Light is coming. Maybe that is what I am trying to say. Salvation.
