“To know my Creator”
Austin Frantz, is an American artist, self taught since childhood, based out of Coeur D’Alene and Paris.
My imagination has always been a guiding voice, reminding me that there is much to learn about ourselves and about life through the act of creation.
Within my work are scars, cracks, and rough surfaces that speak to the challenges we face and the marks we carry throughout our lives. Yet color, light, and order gradually emerge, revealing an image, a story, or a symbol. What these images ultimately mean is not fixed. Their significance evolves with time. As I grow older, I continue to discover new layers of meaning within them, and through the perspectives of others, I gain new insights into what they may be trying to say.
I see my work as a collaboration. I hope each piece offers viewers a small glimpse, a key that opens a deeper understanding. In return, their interpretations and experiences enrich my own understanding of the work.
It is difficult for me to identify a single source of inspiration. Perhaps it comes simply from life itself—from memories, studies, conversations, sensations, and visions gathered along the way. These experiences become the tools through which I express what my soul receives.
Throughout years of experimentation and creation, one theme has consistently reappeared: a glimpse of light within the darkness. That message has always remained with me. It is my hope that those who encounter my work may receive that same invitation—to become, even in a small way, a light in the world.
Above all, my work points toward a belief that light is coming. Perhaps that is what I have been trying to express all along.
