BIOGRAPHY
Austin Frantz is a self-taught contemporary artist from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, United States. He began his artistic career in his hometown, a small lake community in the American Northwest, where he gradually established himself within the local art scene and developed recognition through exhibitions, commissions, and community engagement. From these humble beginnings, Frantz has continued to expand the reach of his practice, progressing from regional recognition to national exposure and, increasingly, toward an international artistic career. His development is characterized by a sustained commitment to painting, an independent artistic education, and a continual pursuit of a deeper visual and spiritual language. Frantz’s continual journey and story is one of passion and determination.
Austin Frantz is recognized for his deep poetic skies and cloudscapes created with oil on uniquely textured panels which evoke a sense of age and time passed. His work draws connection with the inner knowing of ones soul and the communication with the divine in prayer and meditation which gives way to a message within his atmospheric work that speaks of calling and a heightening of the human soul, his work invokes deep emotions of lament, hope, and peace.
As he continues to establish himself internationally, Frantz has exhibited with notable galleries including Arcadia Contemporary in New York City and has developed a presence in the European art scene through his relationship with Maison Bailly in Paris, a gallery known for its commitment to humanitarian causes. Frantz has expanded his practice through collaborations with the world of interior design. His paintings have been considered and utilized within high-end residential and commercial interiors, including collaborations with design studios such as Bide Studio and Morrison Interiors. Frantz’s considered transition and potential in Paris expands on his on going development in his professional artistic practice and interest to contributing to the french art community.
STATEMENT
“To Know my Creator” Art of the Soul
My imagination has always been a guiding voice, reminding me that there is much to learn about ourselves and about life through the very act of creation.
A close look into my work you see their are rough surfaces, cracks and scars, much like the challenges and marks we face in our lives, but the image that is created on these surfaces is one of light, color, order, atmosphere, height and depth, to me this is the yearning of my soul.
A certain theme has carried with me through out my years of creation; a glimpse of light within the darkness. It is my hope that those who encounter my work may receive that same invitation—to become, even in a small way, a light in the world.
Above all, my work points toward a belief that Light is coming. Perhaps that is what I have been trying to express all along. Salvation.
“May God use this gift I am given”
